The body of a man has been pulled from the water in a Scots town. Emergency services raced to the incident at Ballater Bridge in Aberdeenshire after receiving the alarm at 12.15pm on Sunday.
Officers attended and confirmed a 61-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His death is currently being treated as unexplained with inquiries into the incident ongoing.
The bridge will remain closed to allow investigations to be carried out. Images from the scene show a large cordon stretching across the bridge near to a block of flats. Police and ambulance crews were also pictured in attendance on Monday morning.
A statement from Police Scotland reads: “Around 12.15pm on Sunday, 19 January, the body of a 61-year-old man was recovered from the water at Ballater Bridge, Ballater. Inquiries are ongoing into the cause of his death which at this time police are treating as unexplained.
“Ballater Bridge remains closed at this time.”
