Former BBC Radio 2 host Debbie Greenwood was taken to hospital last week.
The 65-year-old presenter, known for her stint on the station in the late ’80s, updated fans after her “unexpected” six-night stay for treatment.
Greenwood thanked the “amazing team at Kingston Hospital” on social media saying: “A huge thank you to the amazing team at Kingston Hospital who looked after me so well for my unexpected 6 night stay. You were so, so kind, attentive, patient and cheerful.”
Acknowledging the pressures on the health service, she added: “The hospital is incredibly busy – especially AandE. But still – what an NHS we have! Thank you, thank you.”
Friends and fans showed support online, with messages such as: “Take care Debs, I hope you are on the mend” and “Sorry to hear you’ve been in hospital Debbie. Wishing you a speedy recovery.”
Greenwood found fame on TV in the ’80s, presenting programmes like BBC Breakfast Time, now BBC Breakfast.
Current host Jon Kay shared how Greenwood keeps a bit of nostalgia at home, revealing: “Last week I went to Debbie’s house. And it’s all true. Debbie Greenwood has a section of the original BBC #BreakfastTime sofa!”
He clarified it was just “OK, it’s only a small section. One seat.
“Debbie normally keeps it in her spare bedroom. But she puts it in her sitting room for us to film.”
A delighted Debbie making a comeback on the show, added: “It means the world to me. That sofa changed my life. I’d never get rid of it. Imagine all the famous bottoms that have sat on it! “.
