Police are unaware of an alleged assault at Kilmarnock bus station on Friday night.

Reports have been widely shared on social media that a “young victim” was assaulted at the bus station on Friday, January 17.

They allege that a woman involved was left with a bleed on the brain and described the incident as “serious”.

However, it is understood that Police Scotland have no record of any assault taking place in or around the bus station over the weekend.

Kilmarnock bus station is no stranger to incidents.

In 2022, Stagecoach threatened to stop running services after 6pm due to safety fears and a teenager was taken to hospital following an alleged stabbing.

The following year, a bus had its window smashed nearby and a security worker was left with a broken nose following an assault.

Ayrshire Live have contacted Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service regarding the speculation on social media.
