It’s often said that finding a solid relationship is tough in today’s world.
People have all sorts of desires, there are so many different ways to meet someone and not everyone is in a rush to tie the knot. One woman, however, claims her dating woes stem from men being baffled by her line of work.
Alanna Pow, who boasts a huge social media following, left her position as a flight attendant to embark on an entirely different career path. With aspirations to increase her earnings, the Aussie switched to a “spicy side hustle”, taking control of the financial reins to better her future prospects.
While soaring the skies, Alanna scrimped and saved her flight attendant wages, putting social engagements on pause to chase her homeownership dream. But, she was bluntly confronted with the harsh competitive streak of Australia’s housing market.
In 2023, Alanna braved a new venture as an adult content creator. Combining glamour with exclusive content for her expanding audience, she swiftly found success and secured the home she longed for.
However, despite her victory, her romantic life hasn’t mirrored this triumph. In fact, her dating prospects often vanish when they discover her profession.
When questioned about the impact her job has on her romantic life, Alanna, 21, said: “Definitely. I’m not the type to tell a guy what I do on the first date or up front. I’m not that honest about it, because when guys find out what I do, it just turns into a one-night stand or they just want to hook up.
“We rarely make it to a second date. I’ve struggled with that a lot. I don’t go on many dates, but I do get a lot of DMs from guys – hot ones, too. But, usually, they’re just looking for one round, and then I never hear from them again. It does get a little tiring.”
But despite the job affecting her love life, it has enhanced her lifestyle in other ways. She now earns five figures monthly, and managed to transform her financial situation practically overnight.
After spending around a year-and-a-half as a flight attendant, Alanna noticed her bank account was really low, and she had a mortgage from an apartment she bought. Before her success, she ended up finding a second job in retail just to try and make ends meet.
Ultimately, she had to leave her retail job as it was conflicting with her flying schedule. However, she still had a mortgage to contend with, prompting her to explore an unconventional avenue. Initially, Alanna discreetly launched her page, sharing the link privately with individuals who messaged her.
“It’s turned my world upside down in a good way,” she explained. “I never thought I’d be able to say, ‘Oh, maybe I can actually pay my mortgage off in a few years’, instead of it being a 30-year loan, which is insane.
“Like, my mum is still paying off her mortgage, and she’s around 60, and the fact that I could do it sooner is just insane. I’m so grateful. I can travel when I need to – like when I had to go to Turkey.
“I was dying after my nose job and BBL, lying in my hospital bed and I was like ‘I’m not flying economy home’. So, I literally went on my laptop and booked a $6,000 (£3,101.57) business class seat. It was insanely expensive, but worth it. The fact that I could even do that was insane. I feel so lucky.”
