BBC’s hit show The Traitors has had audiences hooked, turning into a sensation as it builds up to its final trio of episodes.

Enthrallment peaks as a new favourite emerges among the characters, stealing hearts with every scene.

A wave of online affection emerged after a Reddit thread titled ‘I love Alexander even more now’ got fans talking, quickly amassing over 100 comments as followers lauded the London-born ex-British diplomat.

One besotted fan penned: “I feel like Alexander is the only sane faithful there, who’s seeing it for what it is (a game) and having a bit of a laugh. His giggles at the round table yesterday too lol.”

Another admirer professed: “It’s like he’s come out of a romcom. The charming, handsome yet slightly awkward Brit. For somebody who wasn’t in a few of the episodes he’s become a quick viewer favourite”, reports the Express.

One user declared: “I love Alexander, I think he’s cemented himself as my favourite! He can think logically and recognises that it’s just a game, so he might as well have a little fun with it.”

More kudos came from another ardent devotee: “He’s certainly one of my favorite faithfuls ever.”

Yet another chimed in, expressing their fandom: “I love Alexander so much. I’ve been a fan of him from the first moment we saw him on the train, I loved when he made the comment about leaving it to chance being the fairest method.”

While another excited fan gushed: “I love that he’s just having fun! His meme faces, giggles at the round table, airplane running, he’s just a delight!”

Alexander was given the boot from the show in the opening minutes of the first episode, alongside fellow contestants Fozia and Jack.

Claudia Winkleman, during the train journey to the castle, revealed that one person from each carriage had to leave the train or risk losing £10,000.

After a lot of thought, the three stars chose to leave the train, only to discover later that they had been eliminated. However, in an unexpected twist, all three were brought back for a challenge where the other contestants had to try and free them from a wooden cage.

The Faithfuls and Traitors decided to save Alexander and Fozia, allowing them to finally reach the castle. Alexander is now one of eight remaining contestants on the show and is among the six Faithfuls along with Francesca, Freddie, Jake, Joe and Leanne.

The Traitors continues on Wednesday at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
