A young thug who attacked a man in Paisley and left him permanently disfigured has been warned to comply with background reports.

Ewan Fay admitted he assaulted his victim on April 29, 2023 in the town’s New Street. He punched the man to the head which caused him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.

The 23-year-old’s attack caused the man injury and permanent disfigurement. Defence agent Ms Rae asked for reports to be called for and reserved mitigation.

Sheriff Thomas Ward warned: “It’s quite important you cooperate with the preparation of the report because if there’s no report the next time, and it’s your fault, you’ll be remanded in custody and you won’t like that.”

Sentence was deferred for the preparation of a criminal justice social work report and a restriction of liberty order assessment.

Fay, of Moulin Circus, Glasgow, had his bail continued meantime and will return to Paisley Sheriff Court for sentencing on February 14.
