Loose Women’s Brenda Edwards has revealed the poignant reason behind her frequent choice of wearing blue as she opened up about the loss of her son.

The 55-year-old joined Christine Lampard, Mariella Frostrup, and Myleene Klass on the recent episode of the popular ITV daytime show.

As they touched upon a range of topics from showbiz to politics, they delved into a conversation about the impact of colour on mood.

This conversation prompted Brenda to share that her preference for blue attire is not only because she enjoys the hue but also as a tribute to her son Jamal who tragically died in 2022.

On the show, Christine remarked: “Ok blue Monday, you are wearing blue!” Brenda admitted her affinity for the shade saying, “I would wear blue Monday, Tuesday, every day of the week if you allowed me to wear blue. I think a lot of people think I’m a bit boring and haven’t got much of a life!”

However, Christine was keen to explore the significance of colour for Brenda more deeply, reports the Liverpool Echo.

In response, Brenda heartily explained: “Blue is my happy colour. It was my son’s favourite colour, blue and ever since his passing I have worn blue in tribute to him and it uplifts me and takes me into a lovely beautiful place, so that’s why I wear blue!”

Back in February 2022, Brenda had to convey the heartbreaking news that her son Jamal had passed away at just 31 years old. The revered entrepreneur and visionary suffered from cardiac arrhythmia.

In a heartfelt statement, Brenda expressed her sorrow: “It is with the deepest heartache that I confirm that my beautiful son Jamal Edwards passed away yesterday morning after a sudden illness. Myself, his sister Tanisha and the rest of his family and friends are completely devastated. He was the centre of our world.

“As we come to terms with his passing we ask for privacy to grieve this unimaginable loss. I would like to thank everyone for their messages of love and support. Jamal was an inspiration to myself and so many. Our love for him lives on, his legacy lives on. Long live Jamal Edwards MBE, MBA, PHD.”

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV1.
