BEORNE, Texas (KENS) – A 101-year-old veteran in Texas will be keeping his wheels after he renewed his driver’s license one last time.

Thomas “Ed” Davis is a centenarian who proudly served his country in World War II and the Korean War.

Davis is just like other Texans who are 85 years or older. He renews his driver’s license every two years.

He said he recently renewed his driver’s license “to see if I could.”

“Wasn’t much to it, really,” he said. “I filled out a form, they held up a card and said, ‘Can you read that?’ I could read it, so there I was.”

Davis is not the first centenarian driver in his family. His older brother was the first to set the bar at age 103.

Davis said his vehicle of choice is a Chevy pickup.

He said he drove several trucks for his construction business and continues to move around things like lumber to this day.

The father of five typically keeps his trips short, and they usually stay around the Boerne area.

His driving record is pretty spotless, with not much more than a speeding ticket he was issued a long time ago.
