BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – At Bluefield Union Mission, Bluefield State University athletes got together to give back to the community in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, gathering to prepare lunches and warm winter clothes for those in need.
And it’s clear that their effort does not go unappreciated.
“What we’re hoping, and I think it’s already happened, is that by giving this day of service every day of the year, but especially at this time, it will hopefully create a permanent shift in our consciousness about giving back and giving of yourself, and I think it’s catching on,” said Craig Hammond, Director of Bluefield Union Mission.
