BECKLEY, W.Va. – Two people from Beckley were sentenced for drug crimes, the Department of Justice said in a press release. Both people were sentenced on January 21.

According to court documents and statements made in court, in January 2022, the DOJ said 35-year-old Michael Dwayne Kelly II sold around 6.9 grams of fentanyl to a confidential informant for $700 at a Beckley home. The DOJ said Kelly admitted to the sale and also admitted to selling around 28 grams of fentanyl to the informant for $500 at the Beckley home in February 2022.

According to the DOJ, in February 2022, 32-year-old Savannah Elizabeth Todd sold around 3.5 grams of fentanyl for $550 to a confidential informant at the Beckley home. On February 17, 2022, the DOJ said law enforcement executed a search warrant at the home and found both Kelly and Todd. Officers also found 189 grams of fentanyl, 56 grams of cocaine, 27 grams of heroin, a Ruger LCP .380-caliber handgun, a Taurus model 22LR handgun, a Sig Sauer model 1911 .45-caliber handgun, a Glock model 42 .380-caliber handgun, and $13,046, the DOJ said.

The DOJ said Kelly and Todd admitted that they planned to distribute the seized drugs in and around the Southern District of West Virginia.

Kelly was sentenced to four years and 10 months in prison, which will be followed by three years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, cocaine, and heroin, the DOJ said.

Todd was sentenced to three years and 10 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, cocaine, and heroin, the DOJ said.
