Curtis Jones attempted to clear the air with Liverpool fans after appearing to APOLOGISE to Mo Salah in Tuesday night’s 2-1 win over Lille.
The playmaker, 23, landed himself in hot water with the Anfield faithful during the week when he declared that Chelsea legend Eden Hazard was a “better footballer” than Salah. But Jones was back in the good books last night after assisting the Egyptian King’s first-half opener as the table-topping Reds sealed their place in the Champions League last 16 with a game to spare.
And the England midfielder wasted no time in joining his superstar teammate on the hoardings in a sit-down celebration. However, eagle-eyed fans spotted Jones pointing towards the goalscoring sensation and raising his hands in what appeared to be an apology gesture.
One said: “Curtis says sorry to Salah. He accepts Hazard can’t even do this.” Another commented: “Bro really said sorry to Salah.” While a third pointed out: “Goal is entirely made by Jones’ absolutely inch perfect pass.”
Jones then hauled Salah – who netted his 50th European goal for the club – to his feet and theatrically pointed at Liverpool’s jewel as the Kop lapped up a seventh consecutive Euro triumph for Arne Slot’s pacesetters.
