Having carpets in the house can be both a blessing and a curse. They definitely add a level of comfort and warmth – but then again, keeping them clean can be a chore.
But not if you find the right tools to make your life a lot easier. And the Shark CarpetXpert Deep Clean Carpet Cleaner is a beast of a machine that can help ease any cleaning woes. Currently, the option that gives you two cleaning tools is on special on Amazon, reduced from £249.99 to £179.99 (prices correct at time of writing). That is around a £70 discount, in a time when every penny counts.
What you get for that price tag is really impressive. The CarpetXpert will deliver an 8x deeper clean than a regular vacuum so cleaning carpets and rugs, or for some spot cleaning on a soft, it is perfect.

A high-pressure spray gets really deep into those fibres to dislodge deep-seated nasties hiding in your carpets, with a powerful suction to extract dirt and liquid for fast drying as you go.
There’s nothing more satisfying than viewing the before and after when you’re cleaning carpets too. You can use the handheld attachments, and it also has a flexible hose to get rid of stains – another benefit because it means the cleaner is mobile and you can use it for stairs, car interiors and more.
If you have an upholstered bed, then this is ideal for running over that too if it needs a spruce-up. Even if you have a valance or bed skirt over your mattress, it’s not a bad idea to give the drawers underneath a clean.
The deal includes a tough stain tool and a crevice tool, as well as some CarpetXpert cleaning solution (although do double check as for different price options on Amazon, you’ll get different deals, so make sure you’re clear on what you’re ordering).
With a 2.3 litre cleaning tank your cleaning area is quite significant too, so you don’t have to stop and start every few seconds to empty the tank. Of course, it’ll vary according to the size of the room you’re cleaning, but after a few uses you’ll get the measure of it.
So far the Shark CarpetXpert has a 4.5 star average rating out of five on Amazon from just under 950 reviews.
One five-star review told how the customer bought this product to use on their “absolutely filthy” carpets. They explained: “We have small kids, a cat and a dog. We’ve previously had a section of one our carpets cleaned by a professional, but I was very unimpressed by the results. I decided our carpets were so dirty that they would require several sessions. I bought the Shark as it had many reviews and a good warranty. It also seems pretty simple but powerful and has an easy-to-use spot cleaner.”
They continued: “I’ve done three passes over my carpet (took about an hour) using three tanks of water and it’s so much better than before. The amount of hair and fluff and filth in the dirty water was incredible. The supplied Shark cleaner smells very nice. The cleaner is nice and portable compared to others I’ve seen and overall, very easy to use. You need to make sure you regularly remove fluff from the cleaning brush otherwise it does get re-deposited on the carpet but I can deal with that.”
Someone else enthused: “I was wary ordering this Shark but wow – so easy to slot together and so easy to use. The immediate difference to my carpets was significant. My carpets have had very heavy wear over the years and they now look really good. Dirty water container so much easier to empty and clean. The machine is much easier to clean after use as well.”
And another person said: “It did an amazing job cleaning the carpet- it removed muddy paw prints with ease and lifted a few older stains from the carpets with one pass. I cleaned the stairs with the larger attachment – wish it had been a bit bigger so I could clean more of the stairs at once (it’s more of a spot cleaner) but it did the job. Carpets and rugs now look new and are smelling nice and fresh. Would highly recommend this, especially if you have dogs.”
There were some negatives highlighted by some, with one person saying they found the machine loud and “very difficult to clean”, while another person said their two main negatives were that “the cord that you detach for corners has a really short pipe”, and “the water tank needs replacing every 20 minutes”.
Carpet cleaners are a popular household item so there is a vast array around. Debenhams has the Ewbank carpet and upholstery cleaner for £114.99, while if you were looking to downsize your carpet cleaning machine, Dunelm offers the Bissell Spotclean Stainlift for £100.
