Tributes have been paid to a “one in a million” woman after a body was found in the search for missing woman Rae Robertson.

The 48-year-old disappeared from Elgin on Saturday, January 18. On Tuesday, police confirmed a body had been found in the River Lossie in the Moray town on Monday evening. Formal identification had not taken place, although her family have been informed.

Officers were concerned for Rae’s welfare, and appealed for the public’s help in locating her.

The death is not being treated as suspicious, and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal. Tributes have since been paid to the “one in a million” and “lovely” woman on social media.

Nicola Gibson wrote: “So sad to read this Rae, you were the life and soul of many a party. You would never walk past without speaking, thoughts are with your boys at this sad time.”

Kerry Hamilton recalled knowing Rae as a child, she said: “Heartbreaking news, lots of fun memories with Rae when we were bairns. Rest in peace Rae. My thoughts are with your boys and family.”

Hannah Petrie said: “Aww Rae, you were the life and soul of the party, biggest heart. Many happy memories from nights out, you are going to be missed by many. Thoughts go out to your family. Rest easy beautiful.”

Barbara Kelly commented: “Heartbroken to hear this. You were one in a million Rae.”

Esther Gregory said: “I love you, Rae and will miss you so very much, my dear friend and neighbour. Rest in peace beautiful.”

Donna Cameron wrote: “Rest in peace Mrs, if only you knew what a precious wee star you are, forever young.”

Replying to another comment, she described Rae as “a lovely lassie inside and out”.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Police Scotland can confirm that a body of a female was found in the River Lossie, Elgin, on the evening of Monday, January 20.

“Formal identification has yet to take place, however the family of 48-year-old Rae Robertson, reported missing on Monday, January 20, has been made aware. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
