THE countdown is on to the launch of this year’s Daily Record Pride of Scotland Awards with P&O Cruises.
And we are delighted to announce a brand new award category for 2025 – the P&O Cruises Inspiration Award.
For the past five years our People’s Oscars have celebrated the ordinary Scots whose acts of kindness and selfless bravery make this country great.
From schoolgirl Mila Sneddon, who battled cancer and inspired the Princess of Wales with her courage, to brave dad Asif Iqbal who risked his life to save a driver from a burning car, the nation is full of unsung heroes.
Each winner has been described as “inspirational” and for this reason our 2025 awards, which will launch in tomorrow’s Daily Record, will debut the new P&O award.
This category will celebrate a remarkable individual or group who inspire everyone around them, or the wider world, with their positive spirit and awe inspiring journey to achieve, or overcome, adversity.
Nominees may deserve recognition for an extraordinary reaction to a defining or pivotal moment, or perhaps their actions have had an extraordinary impact.
Folk like Child of Courage winner Zac Gunn, who celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay lauded as a “warrior”.
Carnival UK & P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said: “We are immensely proud to partner with the Pride of Britain and Pride of Scotland Awards, events that recognise and celebrate the extraordinary achievements of everyday heroes.”
The award will be presented at a gala in Glasgow later this year, which will be hosted by Sanjeev Kohli and Elaine C Smith and attended by an array of stars.
Sanjeev said: “When I get asked to sum up the Pride of Scotland winners each year, the first word that always springs to mind is inspirational and I just know this year will be no exception.” ?Pride of Scotland 2025 will launch in tomorrow’s Daily Record with details of how to nominate your heroes.
