A woman has been discovered half-eaten by her pet pugs after her unexplained death at home.

The family of 34-year-old Adriana Neagoe, also known as Anda Sasha, contacted police, concerned for her welfare after she had not been in touch with them, or answered any messages, in five days.

Emergency services forced entry to her flat in Târgu Jiu, near Bucharest, Romania, and discovered her body in the shocking scene.

The two dogs were next to her, with it said to be clear they had begun to eat her flesh. An ambulance crew confirmed her death, but found no evidence of violence against her.

Her body displayed signs of cadaveric lividity, also known as livor mortis, where blood pools in the lowest parts of the body after death, causing discolouration of the skin. She was transported to the Gorj Forensic Medicine Service, where a post mortem examination will be performed to determine her cause of death.

Local police issued a shelter order for the two pugs, which were taken away by council workers. An investigation has since been launched, reports the Mirror.
