Two students were shot at Antioch High School in Nashville on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

The attacker “is no longer a threat,” Metro Nashville Public Schools wrote in a social media post. “This is an active crime scene and investigation.”

Cops said the shooter was a student who turned the gun on himself after the attack, local CBS affiliate WTVF reported. Neither the victims nor the attacker was immediately publicly identified. The condition of the victims was not clear.

The school was locked down shortly after gunshots were heard, according to the district. Police said the shooting happened in the school cafeteria and was contained, according to local NBC affiliate WSMV.

Antioch High sits on the southeast side of Nashville, about 13 miles east of The Covenant School, where three students and three adults were killed in a March 2023 mass shooting.
