A passenger flight from Edinburgh was forced to carry out a U-turn after an issue was declared mid-air.

Loganair flight LM325 left the capital for Southampton at around 3.30pm on Wednesday.

It was due to touch down shortly after 5pm – however, information from FlightRadar24 shows the aircraft had to circled back over the Lake District due to what is understood to have been a “technical issue”.

The aircraft returned in the capital at around 4.30pm and Edinburgh Live understands passengers are being moved onto an alternative flight.

Just days before Christmas another Loganair plane heading from Southampton to Edinburgh issued a 7700 Squawk code mid-flight due to a technical issue before it landed.

At the time a spokesperson for the airline the aircraft landed safely and passengers disembarked as normal.
