Members of a Glasgow gym got the fright of their lives when a window smashed during the high winds. The recently built Puregym in Giffnock remained open during the storms and those who went for a morning work out got a shock after one of the panes of glass shattered right in front of them around 11:30am.
Matthew Hill, 20, from Clarkston was there with his girlfriend Amber Kinch, 19, to work out for their TikTok page MAFitness when the incident happened.
He said: “The wind was blowing against the door to ceiling glass windows of Puregym when we got there.
“We went for a workout this morning and were very nervous driving as the car was shaking.

“We were surprised the gym was open given the warnings but decided to go for our daily workout. It was much quieter than usual and there were only about five or ten people using the facilities. We were at lat pull down machine and the window was to the side of us. We heard it shaking in the wind during our half hour workout and then it just shattered.
“The top of the glass must have been hitting the wall and it just fell out the way, though there was some glass inside. Everyone went over to see what had happened. Luckily the staff had put some tape around that area because it was shaking so badly so nobody was working out directly beside it.
“The glass went everywhere and there was dust and like feathers flying everywhere. I think it must have smashed into a ventilation system or something. Everyone had to leave as soon as it smashed. They started to get their stuff together as they knew it was time to leave and they shut their doors shortly after.”
