Games between Barcelona and Valencia are never short of goals, drama and entertainment.
And there is little to suggest this weekend’s clash will be any different. The Catalans, for one, are in poor domestic form and have not won a La Liga match since early December. Hansi Flick’s side have only won one of their last eight league matches and have dropped to third in the standings. Barca will hope their madcap 5-4 Champions League win at Benfica will jolt them back to life. They also netted five in the 5-2 Spanish Super Cup win over Real Madrid and in the 5-1 Copa del Rey pasting of Real Betis.
Meanwhile, sleeping giants Valencia sit at the other end of the table in 19th. Los Che have had an upturn in form of late, however, with two victories in the Copa del Rey and a league draw away at Sevilla before a slender 1-0 victory at home to Real Sociedad. New boss Carlos Corberán will hope to be the first Valencia coach to win away to Barca since April 2016.
