A 3.8-magnitude earthquake off the coast of Maine rattled residents from Boston to Connecticut on Monday.

The 10:22 a.m. quake was centered about six miles southeast of York Harbor, Maine, about eight miles down, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.

It was felt for hundreds of miles, even as far away as Pennsylvania and Albany, New York. Boston was among those rattled, with residents form Beacon Hill to Roslindale feeling the shake, Axios Boston reported.

While New England earthquakes are uncommon, they do happen.

“Moderately damaging earthquakes strike somewhere in the region every few decades, and smaller earthquakes are felt roughly twice a year,” the USGS says on its website, noting also that earthquakes in the eastern and central U.S. typically reverberate over a much larger region than they do in the West.

There were no injuries, and no reports of damage.
