Plane spotters were mesmerised by pictures of a German Luftwaffe plane landing in Edinburgh Airport.
Yesterday afternoon, the flight touched down in the capital, reports Edinburgh Live. The German air force emblem is visible on the large Airbus A321LR which is known for having a range of up to 4,000 nautical miles.
It is also a model that uses 20 percent less fuel and emits 50 per cent less CO₂ than previous generation single-aisle aircraft. It is understood the German Air Force modified the aircraft to be able to carry out medevac duties around the globe.
Plane spotter and photographer Dennis Penny was able to capture the pictures from various angles of the plane after awaiting its arrival.

According to Simply Flying, Lieutenant General Ingo Gerhartz, the Luftwaffe’s Air Chief, said after receipt of the first A321 from Lufthansa: “This A321 will shoulder an enormous mission package and help save lives on its worldwide missions. We are thus excited about this new ‘member’ of our ‘Air Force Family.’
“Our flight crews, on-board crews, technicians and members of the Special Air Mission Wing welcome it warmly.”
In one snap the large grey plane sits on the sun way of the capital airport with snow on the Pentland Hills in the background.
