AUSTIN, Texas — As the Super Bowl heads to New Orleans, some Texas Exes will also take the field.
While Super Bowl LIX will feature many Texas natives, the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will notably feature some former burnt orange stars.
The Chiefs are one win away from a historic three-peat, and former Longhorns wide receiver Xavier Worthy and defensive end Charles Omenihu will be a big part of their success. Meanwhile, for the Eagles, defensive tackle Moro Ojomo will try to wreak havoc on the Chiefs’ potent offense as the Eagles seek their second Super Bowl championship.
Other players in the Super Bowl with Texas ties
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is arguably the most notable player from Texas appearing in Super Bowl LIX. Mahomes grew up in East Texas before spending three years at Texas Tech and eventually going pro. Mahomes is already a 3-time Super Bowl champion, 3-time Super Bowl MVP and 2-time NFL MVP.
Eagles quarterback and Houston-area native Jalen Hurts will look to add Super Bowl champion to his impressive resume. The quarterback played under his father at Channelview High School before winning a national championship at Alabama. He then transferred to Oklahoma as a senior before being selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
