A dad, who allegedly ran his baby son over after dumping him in the middle of the road, has been arrested.
Justin Golden, 20, is accused of aggravated manslaughter and vehicular homicide after his eight-month-old child was fatally wounded in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday, reports the Mirror. He placed the infant in the middle of an intersection following an argument with his girlfriend, before hitting him with the SUV and driving off, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
He was later found by police and arrested. Paramedics rushed the baby to hospital, but he could not be saved and was pronounced dead by doctors.

One eyewitness, barber Markin Barnes, said he ran out of his barbershop across the road after hearing a woman screaming outside. described the scene as chaotic and told local television station WJXT: “The kid was bleeding. So we immediately asked did she need help.” Mr Barnes, who is a father himself, went on to tell First Coast News: “Now that I’m finding out the details, it’s even worse. Just the screaming, the people consoling her, you could tell it really was tragic.”
A spokesperson for Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said they would “stop at nothing to get justice for the baby”. A statement released on social media read: “Traffic Homicide detectives made a quick arrest in a tragedy, the death of an 8-month-old baby Saturday morning. The suspect, 20-year-old Justin Golden, was driving with a female passenger and the 8-month-old baby in the car when he and the passenger got into an argument. Golden took the baby out of the car before leaving the scene, hitting the baby with the car. The baby died.
“Golden was quickly taken into custody. He’s now charged with aggravated manslaughter and vehicular homicide for taking this young life. Golden is locked up in the Duval County jail for his actions. The investigation continues. We, with our partners at the State Attorney’s Office, will stop at nothing to get justice for the baby.” Golden is currently being held at the Duval County jail.
