DORAL, FL (Gray Media) – President Donald Trump met with House Republicans at one of his properties in Florida to start the week. The lawmakers are holding their annual policy retreat at Trump Doral working to sketch out their plans with majority control across Washington. The president greeted his Capitol Hill allies late Monday afternoon as the GOP begins work on its aggressive legislative agenda.

After a first week in office dominated by shaping policy via executive order, the president turned to lawmakers to create longer lasting change on a litany of priorities. Tax cuts, immigration, energy policy, and more topics are expected to dominate conversation this week.

“The Golden Age of America has officially begun, and I think that’s a good thing for us to talk about,” said President Trump.

With lofty goals and an urgency to deliver fast, a key part of this week is strategizing how to navigate the legislative process with fine margins in both chambers of Congress.

“We don’t want to get hung up on the budget process. Whether it’s one bill, two bills, I don’t care. They’re going to work it out,” said President Trump.

The man who will be largely responsible for getting the job done on Capitol Hill is Speaker Mike Johnson. The Speaker kicked off the retreat before the president’s remarks with a press conference of his own.

“There’s been a sea change and we’re going to deliver on this agenda. And that begins now,” said Speaker Johnson.

President Trump was the special guest the first day of the off-site summit. Vice President JD Vance is expected to make a guest appearance on Tuesday. The former senator is expected to help bridge the executive and legislative branches over the next four years.

Tuesday is when these lawmakers are expected to do the brunt of their work at Trump Doral with meetings and press conferences throughout the day. The retreat wraps up Wednesday morning.
