There are two types of people in the world; those who shower in the morning and those who choose to shower at night. There may be times where you need to shower at a different time, but most of us usually stick to our chosen routine.
There has always been a debate about when is the best time to shower, and experts have now revealed the answer. It has been determined that showering at night is actually better for you. This is because it is reportedly more beneficial for your health as it gets rid of the germs, pollution, dust and bacteria that you have collected throughout the day.
Showering at night has also been seen to reduce acne as your skin regenerates as you sleep. By having a freshly washed face before bed, it means that your bedsheets won’t be dirty and can stop you from lying on multiple days worth of bacteria.
The Express reports that an evening shower can help your skincare routine as it will aid avoiding dry skin, as well as helping you wash your skin more thoroughly before going to sleep. Additionally, health experts have revealed that showering at night can help with reduce hay fever and cat allergies at night as you won’t be spreading them onto your pyjamas and bed sheets.
For those wanting healthier hair that holds a glossy look, then showering at night is also the better option as it gives your hair the time to dry naturally and avoids it getting damaged or dirty outside before it can fully dry.
Also, if you struggle with sleep, having a late night shower might be helpful as experts say that showers can help give you a more restorative night’s sleep as it lowers your core temperature and relaxes your muscles.
This is a routine many of us should try to take up as it was estimated that in 2023, Brits are only getting an average of 5.91 hours of sleep per night. This is much less that the recommended 7.5 to 8.5 hours of consistent sleep that we should be getting.
People have been found to unwind and fall asleep faster if they have showered an hour or two before bed, according to a study by the Sleep Foundation. Quality of sleep was also seen to improve. However, it is advised that freezing cold or piping hot showers should be avoided before bed as this can disrupt your body temperature and be counter effective.
