CANTON, Miss. (Gray News) – A woman died after she was allegedly kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend from a Nissan plant in Mississippi, authorities said.
Holmes County Sheriff Willie March told WTVA that Joshua Andrews, 29, kidnapped his ex-girlfriend, Glynis Jackson, on Monday morning from the parking lot of the Nissan plant in Canton.
Andrews allegedly forced Jackson, a mother of three, into a vehicle and fled onto Interstate 55.
While in Holmes County, Jackson fell out of the vehicle, and another vehicle struck and killed her, March said.
Investigators are working to determine if Jackson was pushed out of the vehicle or if she jumped out in an attempt to escape.
According to Madison County Sheriff Randy Tucker, Jackson had also been shot multiple times. She was found dead at the 161-mile marker in Holmes County.
A gun was recovered from the scene.
Andrews later surrendered at the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.
Tucker said the suspect will be prosecuted in Madison County and is currently being held at the Madison County Detention Center without bond.
Andrews is charged with capital murder and being a felon in possession of a gun.
“This is a heinous crime that shocks the conscience of society and Andrews will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” Tucker said in a statement.
The Holmes County sheriff told WLBT that Andrews was previously arrested for aggravated assault and spent time in prison.
“It’s really a sad situation for her to lose her life in a situation like that,” March said. “The young man that did this, we also had arrested him several years ago and sent him to prison for aggravated assault. So, he had that kind of temper to commit such a crime. But I really hate that it happened to this young lady.”
Investigators are still working to determine a motive.
