Channel 4 viewers were moved to tears during the latest episode of A Place in the Sun, as a couple made an emotional admission about the real reason for their move to Spain.
In Wednesday’s episode (January 29), Jesica and Karl, a married couple from Manchester, were on the hunt for their dream family home in Costa de la Luz, Spain, with a budget of £95,000. Host Jasmine Harman was ready with various options for them to consider.
Before starting their property search, Jesica and Karl shared a poignant reason behind their relocation. Early in the show, Karl disclosed that they had lost their son, and the move was partly in tribute to him.
As they opened up about their tragic loss, presenter Jasmine offered comforting words, describing the situation as “heartbreaking.”
The episode was charged with emotion from start to finish. After viewing a couple of apartments within their budget, the couple remained optimistic about what they could afford, reports the Mirror.
But it was a three-bedroom house, slightly above their budget at £108,000, that truly overwhelmed them. Karl was brought to tears by the affordability and space of the property.
An astonished Karl expressed his disbelief, saying: “I just never dreamed…with such a small budget,” as he struggled to speak through his tears.
Despite property number three being a strong contender, it was the final option on Jasmine’s list that seemed to capture the hearts of the hopefuls. With their daughter Sophia lending a helping hand later in their property hunt, they opted for the fifth listing – a two-bedroom beauty boasting a sleek modern design.
Karl and Jesica, who were serious about their house hunting, bagged the gem for approximately £90,000. Viewers at home shared in the celebration, taking to social media to express their joy at the family’s triumph.
One viewer commented: “They’re crying, Jas is crying. We’re all crying. Genuinely chuffed for them.” Another chimed in with congratulations, writing: “Well done. Happy for them.” And yet another fan celebrated the upbeat outcome, remarking: “Nice to have a good positive episode of #aplaceinthesun.”
