Cambuslang Rangers boss Paul McColl hopes to have a couple of new players in before they host Kilsyth Rangers in the West of Scotland Second Division on Saturday.

McColl reckons it was probably a relief that their game at Lesmahagow was called off due to Storm Eowyn, and says the West of Scotland League should have scrapped all games on safety grounds.

As it is, McColl reckons there was minimal damage to Somervell Park, and the postponement may have worked in their favour as a few players would have been missing.

McColl said: “We might have a couple of players by Saturday.

“A couple of players are away, Taylor Fabian and Fraser McFadzean, they wanted more game-time and weren’t too happy, so we moved them on.

“Good luck to the pair of them, they’re two good, young players, but they need to be playing, so maybe they’ve got a better chance elsewhere.

“I’m looking for another striker/winger and a defender. We’ll try and bring a few in, maybe a defensive midfielder and another defender.

“We’re just looking to see who is available, and some guys need to be on their toes, now.

“We’re adding, and the position we’re in, a couple of wins can get us right up the table – but we’ll go the other way if we don’t.

“Every game is a hard game. The last time we played Kilsyth Rangers we were winning 2-0, a mad penalty and a stupid goal had it at 2-2, then a couple of subs came on and combined in losing the ball, one didn’t track back, and they scored a winner with a minute to go.

“We had started really well and I thought Kilsyth were decent enough, so it will be a hard game.”

On last weekend’s storm, which brought with it a red weather warning, McColl said: “We’ve got a home game on Saturday and it should be okay, but it was wild, wasn’t it?

“It was a good thing our game wasn’t on, because the weather would have killed it.

“I’ve got a couple of boys in Rothesay, so their boat probably wouldn’t have made it, Godson Nechi was away for a month and wasn’t feeling very well, Clinton was away to Spain and was just back that morning, one of the boys was down at Manchester United v Rangers and got stuck because his bus didn’t leave, and to be honest it would have been a disaster had the game been on, in that sense.

“In my opinion it was the right call by Lesmahagow.

“All games should have been off, the weather was obscene.”
