Love Island star Jack Fincham was released on bail from jail yesterday just hours after being sentenced to six months behind bars for dangerous dog offences.

The 32-year-old’s black cane corso bit a runner in September 2022 in Swanley, Kent, and later attacked a woman in Grays, Essex, last year.

The father-of-one pleaded guilty to two counts of being in charge of an out of control dog but was later released on the same day (Wednesday January 29) after appealing his sentence.

Jack, who rose to fame after winning Love Island back in 2018 with EastEnders’ icon Danny Dyer’s daughter, has found himself in legal trouble numerous times since his success on the reality show after previously escaping jail three times on drug-driving charges.

Here’s everything we know about Jack Fincham, including how he rose to fame, his lengthy criminal past and the terms of his latest bail release from jail.

Love Island stint

Jack made his debut on Love Island on the fourth season of the ITV show in 2018 where he famously coupled up with Dani Dyer.

He was a 26-year-old from Kent at the time who had been working as a pen salesman before he found love with Dani, who is the daughter of Rivals star Danny Dyer.

However, everything changed for him when he won Love Island with Dani, not only flying home to the UK with a new girlfriend but with an extra £50,000 in their pockets which they shared between them.

From there on out, Jack was approached by many brands thanks to his success on the dating show and is said to have been worth between £1m and £5 after finding fame according to Heatworld.

Dani and Jack took things fast and decided to move in together after landing their very own three-part television show, Jack and Dani: Life After Love Island, on ITVBe.

However, it wasn’t meant to be as the couple confirmed they had split just one year later after their Love Island win.

In the months that followed, Jack moved on with NHS worker Casey Ranger and shocked fans when he revealed he had welcomed his first child just 18 months after winning Love Island.

Jack became a dad to his daughter Blossom Fincham who was born in January 2020 but Casey has publicly slammed her ex in the past for being an absent father.

The Love Island star is currently in a relationship with TOWIE star Chloe Brockett, who could be heard sobbing in court after his sentencing this week.

Criminal past

Jack’s six week sentencing this week is not the first time the reality star has had a brush with the law.

In fact his criminal history dates all the way back to 2019 when he confessed to indulging in a ‘cocaine binge’ while he was still dating Dani Dyer.

Despite saying at the time that it had been a “terrible error” and vowing to not repeat it, drug-related problems have continued to be an issue in his life.

The 32-year-old landed himself in court over two drug-driving related charges in July 2021 after being pulled over by police behind the wheel of his £30,000 Mercedes near his Swanley home in January 2020.

He was accused of having 239 micrograms of benzoylecgonine – a cocaine metabolite – and 632 micrograms of diazepam, also known as Valium, in his bloodstream at the time of the stop, to which he pleaded not guilty and was released on bail.

History repeated itself in 2023 when he was stopped by police for speeding and was handed a three-year driving ban and 60 hours of unpaid community service within a year.

The court was informed that he had 18 micrograms of cocaine per litre of blood and 800 micrograms of benzoylecgonine per litre of blood in his system, exceeding the legal limits of 10 and 50 respectively.

While in March 2024, he dodged jail once more after being caught speeding down the hard shoulder whilst on a cocaine binge. He was driving his BMW 520D on the A2 in Kent at the time when officers in an unmarked police car stopped him and once again tested positive for cocaine.

After pleading guilty at court to driving without due care and attention, as well as drug driving, he once more avoided a custodial sentence but is now banned from driving until October 2029 and was ordered to complete 250 hours of unpaid work.

Dangerous dog charges

Jack was sentenced to six weeks in prison at Southend Magistrates’ Court on January 29 after pleading guilty to two counts of being in charge of a dangerously out-of-control dog, with one of the incidents causing injury.

However, he successfully lodged an appeal and was granted conditional bail.

The court heard his dog Elvis bit a runner in his home town of Swanley, Kent, in September 2022 and that Fincham was cautioned and agreed to take part in a responsible dog ownership course after the man accepted an apology. Conditions were also set that the cane corso must be muzzled.

In June last year, there was a second incident in Grays, Essex, when the dog was out of control. Fincham was later charged.

After being released on bail, Jack has now been ordered to pay £3,680 in total, including a £2,000 contribution to kennelling costs, a fine of £961 and £200 compensation.

He has been granted permission to pay it back in instalments of £400 per month after Richard Cooper, representing Finchman, said the defendant has “no savings”.

Presiding magistrate Anne Wade, also ruled that his cane corso dog must be muzzled in public places, be kept on a lead, and not be left alone with anyone under the age of 16.
