Prince Harry has confessed his ‘biggest weakness’ and his fears of being to protect his wife Meghan Markle and their two kids Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The 40-year-old prince came clean about one of his major downfalls whilst in conversation with New York Times columnist Andrew Ross Sorkin at the 2024 DealBook Summit last month.

He opened up about what it was like to grow up with the spotlight on him from a very young age and read false stories about himself in the media.

Explaining how it has affected him, he said: “When you grow up with that environment, you find yourself questioning the validity of the information, but also what other people are thinking as well, and how dangerous it can be over the course of time.

“When you are kind of trapped within this bubble, it kind of feels like there’s no way out. What happened to my mom and the fact that I was a kid and felt helpless, there comes the inner turmoil.

“I felt helpless. One of my biggest weaknesses is feeling helpless.”

The Duke of Sussex revealed his concerns extend to his young family, saying: “What worried me most was worrying that would happen to me, or to my wife, or to my kids.”

Sharing his personal strategy for managing media pressure, he said: “Throughout my life there would be moments in my life when I read a lot and moments when I read nothing. I highly recommend the latter.”

Emphasising how this approach helps him regain control, he explained: “Once you stop reading the stuff about yourself, you automatically remove the power from their hands.”

One of the most recurrent stories about Harry in the media is split rumours between him and his wife Meghan. However, the duke has been quick to shut these down as he addressed their numerous ‘divorces’ at the same event.

He said: “Apparently, we’ve bought or moved house 10, 12 times. We’ve apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So it’s just like, what?

“It’s hard to keep up with, but that’s why you just sort of ignore it. The people I feel most sorry about are the trolls.

“Their hopes are just built and built, and it’s like, ‘Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,’ and then it doesn’t happen. So I feel sorry for them. Genuinely, I do.”
