A body of a man has been found in the River Tay in the search for missing Edinburgh man Guy Bargery. Police say the discovery was made at around 12.50pm on Thursday, January 30.

Formal identification has still to take place however the family of the 60-year-old has been informed. Police say there would not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

Guy was last seen around 9.15am on Monday, January 27, in the Dundas Street area of Edinburgh. His grey Volvo was later traced in the Chapelhill near St Madoes in Perth around 2.30pm on Tuesday, January 28.

A Police Scotland statement read: “Around 12.50pm on Thursday, 30 January, 2025, the body of a man was found at the River Tay near to Chapelhill, Perthshire. Formal identification has still to take place however the family of 60-year-old Guy Bargery has been informed.

“There would not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
