WASHINGTON (Gray DC) – Less than a day after a late night midair collision over the Potomac River in Washington, DC, President Donald Trump appeared in the White House press briefing room to share what investigators know so far about the deadly crash.

President Trump suggested diversity programs are to blame for a deadly plane crash in the nation’s capital. Trump was joined by members of his Cabinet to give their latest update on the cause of this horrific midair collision. The president said the country was in mourning.

“The work has now shifted to a recovery mission. Sadly, there are no survivors.”

Accompanied by his Vice President, newly sworn-in Transportation Secretary, Sean Duffy; and Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth; President Trump appeared in the White House briefing room to offer condolences and share what investigators know so far.

“So you had a, confluence of, of, bad decisions that were made and, you have people that lost their lives, violently lost their lives.”

While the President appeared to blame the pilot of the Army Blackhawk helicopter for the collision, he also said – without providing evidence – that diversity programs at the FAA – also are to blame. When pressed by reporters about how he can be sure these policies these policies led to the collision, the president fired back.

“I have common sense. Okay? And unfortunately, a lot of people don’t, we want brilliant people doing this.

Meanwhile Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth acknowledging that errors may have been made by the helicopter pilot.

“There was some sort of an elevation issue. That we have immediately begun investigating at the DoD and Army level. Army CID is on the ground investigating, top tier aviation assets inside the DoD are investigating, sir, to get to the bottom of it so that it does not happen again, because it’s absolutely unacceptable.”

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said the NTSB and the FAA will work together to quickly determine the cause for the midair collision. President Trump just last week signed an executive order that ended diversity programs in the FAA. A short while later, in the Oval Office, President Trump signed a memorandum of understanding calling for an immediate assessment of aviation safety, even as he promised, it’s safe to fly now.
