AUSTIN, Texas — Texas State University in San Marcos has set a new enrollment record for the spring semester.
On Thursday, the university announced its total enrollment for the spring semester at 37,567 students, surpassing the 37,000 student mark for the first time during a spring semester. The number marks a nearly 6% increase, or 2,082 students, over spring 2024.
Contributing to the increase in enrollment is the number of new undergraduate students who transferred to the school, which is up 20%, or 992 students, compared to 826 in 2024.
Additionally, Texas State’s Round Rock Campus has also seen its enrollment grow, with enrollment now at 2,193 students, marking a 21% increase.
Some other enrollment highlights include:
- The total number of new students, including First-Time in College (FTIC), transfers, master’s and doctoral students, reaching 1,760, which is a 24% increase, or 343 more students, compared to spring 2023.
- The number of new FTIC students increasing by 10.3%, with 256 new freshmen.
- The number of new master’s students, which has surged by 47%, with 503 new enrollments, an increase of 163 students.
- New spring semester credit hours increasing by 7.2%, totaling 472,207 credit hours.
- Total international enrollment for the spring rising by 50%, with 1,555 students, an increase of 524.
The university has also observed a spring semester persistence rate of 93% for first-time college students, which tracks the number of first-time students who enrolled in the fall semester and returned in the spring.
Other areas with significant enrollment jumps included the College of Science and Engineering, which increased nearly 22%, or 1,466 students, over 2024, remaining the largest college at the university with a total enrollment of 8,145.
The McCoy College of Business saw a 10.1% increase, or 466 students, for a total enrollment of 5,062. The College of Health Professions saw a 16.4% increase, or 620 students, for a total enrollment of 4,405.
