Heartbreaking footage shows emergency crews on the banks of the River Dee after a body was discovered in the search for twin sisters who vanished over three weeks ago.
Police made the grim discovery in the water near to Aberdeen Boat Club near Queen Elizabeth Bridge this morning, Friday, January 31, at around 2:12am.
Formal identification is yet to take place but police say the family of Henrietta Huszti, 32, has been informed. Searches remain ongoing for her sister Eliza Huszti.
Eliza and Henrietta Huszti, both 32, who are part of a set of triplets, vanished from Aberdeen on Tuesday, January 7. They were last seen on Market Street at Victoria Bridge over the River Dee at around 2.12am.
Police Scotland and the Coastguard remain at the scene as the continue their investigation.
A video shows a police diving boat sailing under the Queen Elizabeth Bridge, while officers scour the banks looking for clues, poking at the ground with sticks.
More officers can be seen standing guard outside the boating club, where a blue tent was erected this morning.
The sisters, originally from Hungary, were last seen crossing the bridge and turn right on to a footpath next the river heading towards Aberdeen Boat Club.
Cops later confirmed that the siblings, who were wearing rucksacks, were seen at the Queen Elizabeth Bridge at around 2.50pm the previous day, Monday January 6.
A major hunt has since been launched in the north east, with extensive searches being carried out of the river, with a police helicopter and dog branch also used. Officers have said there is nothing to suggest any criminality or suspicious circumstances.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Police Scotland was made aware of the body of a person seen in the River Dee near Queen Elizabeth Bridge in Aberdeen around 7.55am on Friday, 31 January, 2025.
“The body has since been recovered from the water. Enquiries are at an early stage and identification is yet to take place.”
