Councillors have allowed the construction of a major housing development in Shotts.
North Lanarkshire Council’s planning committee unanimously agreed to grant planning permission, subject to conditions, for AC Land Regeneration to go ahead with plans for 246 homes to be built on an open plot of land at Springhill Farm in Shotts.
The decision by the committee was in line with recommendations made by planning officers, who found the proposals to be in keeping with the development plan and policies, as it would not negatively impact the site or wider area, while bringing various benefits such as opportunities for play, landscaping and improved biodiversity and sustainable travel links.
None of the statutory consultees objected to the application, while only a single member of the public submitted an objection which was received too late to be considered.
The development features a range of house types from two-bedroomed terraced housing to detached five-bedroomed properties, with the plans also including various infrastructure such as a new access roundabout, two play areas and a multi-use games area.
The list of 20 conditions attached to the planning permission includes numerous prerequisites which must be fulfilled before construction can begin, such as the provision of various reports, and approval of various aspects of the development.
