Davina McCall has faced a tough couple of months after undergoing surgery as she discovered a colloid cyst in her brain that was around “14 mm wide” and needed it removed urgently.

She initially discovered the tumour after she was offered a private health check up, however almost two months on from the scare, Davina is healing well.

Throughout her health scare, her partner, celebrity hairdresser Michael Douglas, has been by her side and looking after her, which she has said has been “truly incredible”.

Even immediately after her op, Michael was on hand to help her recover and even updated her fans on her progress.

And it now seems that the pair are closer than ever. Davina and Michael have been dating since 2019, two years after the TV host split from her husband Matthew Robertson, but they actually met when Michael was her stylist during her Big Brother days.

The couple are not married, however Michael recently responded to rumours that the pair are set to tie the knot after the tough year they have been through.

In a candid chat with Closer magazine, he reflected on what has been a challenging year for them following Davina’s recent health scare.

When questioned about possibly getting married, the hairdresser kept it cool with the reply: “I don’t know.”

He added: “We often talk about it, but I don’t think so. What I love about us is we’re not tied to each other and that’s what keeps us there in a way.”

Michael spoke about how they don’t feel in a rush to get married, saying they are still “working out” what marriage would signify for them.

Claims had surfaced Davina was ready to walk down the aisle with Michael after he provided exceptional support during her recuperation. However representatives for Davina dismissed these claims.

A source speaking to Closer magazine in November commented: “It’s been a life changing couple of days for Davina. She now wants to do everything on her bucket list and more. First off, yes, she’ll marry Michael.”

The same insider noted: “There have been a lot of tears, but Michael has been a pillar of strength – taking charge of the kids and looking after Davina as she recovers. It has made her think that marriage could be on the cards.”

After her surgery, Davina said she was incredibly grateful and “overwhelmed with love”.

“I understand that for most of my followers having a private health check isn’t financially viable. But I do really believe that @onewelbeck deserve a special mention. They were the company that gifted me the health check in return for the talk I gave them, and that health check quite possibly saved my life. I owe Rupal and Simi a special debt of gratitude for guiding me through what has been a mad year,” she said.

“I interviewed @drchatterjee recently and he said that the tough times he’s faced have always ended up being blessings of some sort … and I definitely feel this whole experience is a blessing . The love I feel for life, my family , my partner, nature, sun, rain , wind… everything… it’s overwhelming at times… and I totally understand how lucky I was to get this health check … but there were many health checks that I skilfully ignored , when I got letters from @nhsengland offering them…. so what I’m saying is DO THE NHS HEALTH CHECKS … they r free ! BTW x thank you , for all the messages and support … big hugs, she concluded.”
