Valentine’s Day murder mystery returning to Princeton Hammer & Stain

PRINCETON, W. Va. -If you are looking for something to do this Valentine’s Day weekend that involves art, dinner, and solving a murder, one Mercer Street business may have what you’re looking for.

Princeton Hammer and Stain will be holding “Cupid’s Crime Scene Murder Mystery,” an interactive game that lets participants play the role of crime solver or murderer in a story set in an art studio. Each attendee will be given a character to play as they interact with others to solve the case.

In addition to the murder mystery, there will be a dinner catered by the Lighthouse Cafe and an art souvenir to make and take home: an 8 x 10 “ResinScape” project. Princeton Hammer and Stain has held more than a dozen similar murder mysteries since they started last Valentine’s Day. Kenton and Sarah Cecil, the owners of the art studio, say the event is always popular often selling out as well.

“…When they leave out, they’re all smiles and laughing. It’s a lot of fun. It’s a tremendous amount of fun. Everybody has a blast,” says Kenton Cecil.

“Some people just get so into their character, their role, and I don’t assign characters until they get here, so they have a few minutes to prep, and some of them just really get into it, get into the storyline, and everyone leaves just having a fabulous time and laughing…” says Sarah Cecil.

Friday has already been sold out, but Sarah Cecil says there are still spots available on Saturday. If you would like to attend “Cupid’s Crime Scene” you can register on the Princeton Hammer and Stain website, and you can look at past murder mysteries on their Facebook page.
