LOS ANGELES — Superstar Beyoncé added another Grammy to her collection this year with her best country album win.
Taylor Swift presented the award for best country album at the 2025 Grammys to Beyoncé for her groundbreaking “Cowboy Carter.” It marks Beyoncé’s first win in a country category.
Beyoncé sat shocked in the audience for a moment after Swift made the announcement. Once on stage, as Beyoncé thanked her family, cameras cut to Jay-Z and Blue Ivy Carter standing and beaming in the audience.
“I really was not expecting this. Wow,” she started her speech. “Genre is a cold word to keep us in our place as artists… I’m still in shock. Thank you so much for this honor.”
Many prognosticators who picked Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” to win album of the year thought it might not win best country album, which is voted on by the country corner of the academy, not the whole thing.
She leads the Grammy nods with 11 thanks to her acclaimed “Cowboy Carter” album, bringing her career total to 99 nominations. That makes her the most nominated artist in Grammy history.
