An awkward Grammy red carpet moment is going viral after two AP reporters abruptly ended an interview with Babyface when they spotted Chappell Roan behind him.
Moments after the snub, the R&B legend could be seen moving out of the way and Roan came into view.
“I’m so sorry, Babyface,” AP reporter Leslie Ambriz said as Babyface walked away.
After the video began circulating social media, fans expressed outrage at how the artist was treated by the outlet.
Amongst the users expressing upset about the snub is Khloe Kardashian, who posted an extensive response to the encounter, calling it “disrespectful.”
“This is so disrespectful how @babyface was treated. Babyface has had such a significant impact on the music industry. It’s maddening to see a LEGEND not get the respect and attention they deserve.”
Rapper Cardi B also commented on the trending topic by simply commenting, “lame a–” on Hollywood Unlocked’s post about the moment.
Krysta Fauria, the other AP reporter in the Babyface interaction, later apologized for the snub.
“I wanted to say that I’m really sorry about interrupting Babyface earlier,” she said. “Chappell Roan had come up, and there was a lot of commotion as there is on these carpets. But I’m a big Babyface fan and as are we all, and so I just wanted to say that I really apologize.”
