A sex offender escaped from a New Jersey medical transport van, and state police are asking for the public’s help in tracking him down.
Nicholas Voutsas, 25, escaped from a New Jersey Department of Health medical transport van driving to University Hospital in Newark around 9 a.m.Thursday, and was still on the loose Sunday, New Jersey State Police said.
Police said Voutsas is a Tier 2 registered sex offender. According to the state’s sex offender registry, that means he is a “repetitive compulsive” sex offender. He was first arrested May 9 in Middlesex County and charged with sexual contact with a child, luring or enticing a child, and failing to register as a sex offender, Patch.com reported.
Tier 2 also indicates a moderate risk he’ll do it again, the Newark Daily Voice noted.
The 6-foot-tall Caucasian suspect weighs 260 pounds and was last seen wearing a two-tone green-and-black winter jacket, dark blue pants and black sneakers with Velcro closures.
“Anyone with information that could assist in locating Nicholas Voutsas is urged to contact the New Jersey State Police Fugitive Unit Tipline,” cops said, adding “anonymous tips” will also be accepted.
