Wanted man Lennon Miller was positioned yards from Celtic powerbrokers on Sunday with the Premiership champions reportedly readying a second bid for the Motherwell prodigy.

The injured Fir Park skipper was watching in the stands as his side lost 3-1. Now Well are readying themselves for another offer from Celtic Park. The Steelemen do no not want to lose Miller in this window, however, Brendan Rodgers is a long-term admirer and spoke glowingly about the 18-year-old standout in the past.

Miller was keeping a close eye on the action with Celtic chief executive Michael Nicholson and chairman Peter Lawwell rows in front of him. Celtic will be hoping for more close contact before the window closes. Miller retains admirers across Europe with Udinese rebuffed earlier this month.

Meanwhile, any hope of Matthias Kvistgaarden arriving on a jet plane has been dashed. Reports out of Denmark have shot down intrepid explorers who tied the £10m-rated striker to a private flight out of Faro. The Brondby striker is in the Algarve for a winter tournament and appears almost certain to remain in his homeland until at least the summer.

Meanwhile, Rodgers admits it could be a case of short-terrm gain in the hunt for news arrivals on deadline day. He said: “I would think so. I think that to get the one that we would want for that longer term, if it’s not there, then I don’t want to just bring in anyone just for the sake of it. I’ll always look from within. There’s no point in bringing in someone if they’re not the right fit. So it might be more down that route, but we’ll wait and see what the evening brings.”
