Police are appealing for witnesses after a car was deliberately torched causing ‘extensive’ damage to two vehicles and a house.

The incident happened at around 11.05pm on Thursday, January 30, in the Carlisle Road area of Stonehouse, South Lanarkshire.

A car was deliberately set on fire and the blaze spread to another car and to the house, causing extensive damage to the vehicles and the property.

The fire was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. Police confirmed no one was injured but the occupants were left badly shaken.

Detective Constable Andrew Sinclair said: “Fortunately no one was injured but the occupants were left very upset and frightened by what happened.

“We are asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time to get in touch if they saw anything suspicious.

“In particular we are asking people to check their dash-cams to see if they have captured something that could assist with our investigation.”
