Returning Celt Jota wept tears of joy as he fired home at Fir Park.

But there was another emotional outburst on the Hotline as the Hoops faithful reacted to the treatment dished out by Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd. Paul McCormack, Coatbridge, said: “A player talks about coming ‘home’ scores a goal on his return and is mocked for an outpouring of emotions. Unless those mocking know we’re he was before he came home, they have no business wading in on him. They are football pundits and sometimes struggle to make sensible comments on something they are supposed to know about. Well done Jota and welcome ‘home’.”

Jim McClean, Isle of Bute, added: “Typical of Kris Boyd comments, saying give Jota a box of tissues. He should give him a box of his own given he’s reaching for them all season in the studio while crying tears about Rangers’ performances.”

Stephen Mulhern, Dumbarton, said: “I had my reservations regarding Jota’s return but after witnessing the impact he made from the bench I’ve changed my mind. His goal celebration was clear for supporters that it was a big mistake in leaving and I’d imagine Kyogo would have been shedding a different sort of tears after his disappointing debut for his relegation-threatened side.”

But Philip Borland said: “Poor Jota crying after scoring for Celtic yesterday – did he need his mummy to change his nappy? The only reason he got a hard time when he left Celtic was because he wasn’t good enough to play in the Saudi Pro League and for Rennes. He should put his big boy shorts on and stop crying.”

Daizan Maeda and Adam Idah sent Celtic on their way to the 3-1 win over Motherwell before Jota sealed it. And Charles Maxwell said: “Big Idah played well again on Sunday to help brush Motherwell aside.

“He said he wants to be the main man but the real mane man Jota has just returned and the No.7 jersey has a knack of being king of the jungle. Celtic will always comb the markets for strikers, but if the big man can cut it and achieve his goals he could still be top of the crop.”

Kenny Wilson, Moffat, said: “Another good win for Celtic dominating the game totally against Motherwell but it should’ve been a lot easier than it was.”

Celtic are waiting to hear their fate after copping another pyro charge from UEFA. And James Brown, Glasgow, said: “Rangers fans gloating about the possibility of Celtic fans being banned for the game against Bayern in Munich, because of a flare being thrown at the Villa game last week.

“It was only a month ago that Rangers fans were throwing coins and other objects at the Celtic staff and Arne Engels at Ibrox. If UEFA do ban Celtic fans from the game in Munich, surely the SFA/SPFL should step in and ban the Rangers fans from Ibrox and possibly Hampden for any future match against Celtic?”

Meanwhile, John Caw said: “I watched the Killie v Dundee United highlights. The United keeper goes up for ball with Marley Watkins and they clash. Outcome a goal – but in the Motherwell v Rangers game last month, the Rangers keeper goes up for ball with Tony Watt, no difference except that Motherwell goal is chalked off. Once again Kevin Clancy helps the boys in blue.”

Final call goes to Neil Renton, Leith, who said: “Having watched Aberdeen get beat from the mighty Hibs, I fear for the Dons. They’ll need to hand back the league title and medals that they won in October.”
