Selecting the perfect baby name can prove to be a difficult task, particularly when there’s a stalemate between partners over the choice of names.
One pregnant woman is currently wrestling with this dilemma as she tries to steer her husband away from what she deems a “terrible” pick for their soon-to-arrive bundle of joy. Despite being months away from welcoming their child, they’ve already embarked on a quest for the right name.
Her spouse has shown an affinity for ‘K’ names featuring a strong ‘K’ sound, but his selections thus far have failed to win her approval. In an effort to divert his preferences, she turned to the online community for guidance.
Venturing onto Reddit, she confessed, “My husband’s really killing me on his baby boy names. Even though we are months away, I need to stop this crazy train before we get any closer.
“His (truly) preferred boy names are Krillin and Keanu. He prefers a ‘K’ name with a hard phonetic ‘K’. I am the complete opposite, loving names like Grayson and Theodore.
“What’s a name that’s not a tragedy?! I’m okay with a name without the ‘K’, but I’d love to hear suggestions to fit something more traditional and a less terrible ‘K’ alternative. Help my life – please!”
The commenters on the post were quick to offer support to the mum, reports Bristol Live. They suggested alternative names that could appease her husband’s preference for K names, such as Kieran, Killian, Kenneth, Kaleb, or Kellen.
They weren’t too keen on the husband’s choices, with many remarking that Krillin sounded like antagonist from a comic book film.
One commenter pointed out that Krillin is actually the name of a character from beloved anime Dragon Ball Z, which only intensified the expectant mum’s frustration.
She responded gratefully: “I so appreciate all these recommendations and the general hatred for Krillin. Yes, it’s from Dragon Ball Z.
“And yes, that makes it even lamer than the name itself. I’m trying to find a compromise since I love a silly silly man, but I’ll be forever pregnant before I birth a Krillin!”
