Rangers could land Lyall Cameron from Dundee for around £400,000 in the summer.
Record Sport exclusively broke the story that the Light Blues were in for the Scotland under-21 cap earlier this month and earlier today they confirmed his signing on a pre-contract. Cameron will make the move to Ibrox in the summer when his contract expires. Rangers and Dundee will try and agree a fee but if they don’t then it is likely to go to a tribunal.
If the 22-year-old had left Scotland then Dundee would have been entitled to less than £400,000 in training compensation. It comes down to the fact he initially came through the Dundee United academy. He then moved to Dundee and the other issue for the Dark Blues is that their academy hasn’t got elite status so that will also weaken their compensation claim.
Rangers had to pay just less than £700,000 to Aberdeen for Connor Barron but will have to pay a fraction of that for Cameron. It will come down to whether Dundee will want to go to a tribunal or try and strike a deal with better future add-ons.
