Two Edinburgh restaurants have been named as having the best drinks list in the UK.
On Monday evening, the winners of the annual Good Food Guide Awards were unveiled. The prestigious awards celebrate the top restaurants and gastropubs across the nation.
Taking home the coveted Drinks List of the Year award are Timberyard and Montrose in the Scottish capital. According to judges, the two sister venues took home the prize for their “changemaking drinks programme, which includes left-field wines and innovative soft drinks pairings”.
Timberyard is a family-run restaurant situated on Lady Lawson Street in the heart of Edinburgh. Set within a trendy industrial venue, it offers a unique menu of locally sourced produce and a wide range of cocktails, wines, beers, and spirits.
Among the cocktails available at Timberyard are Whisky Highballs, Dirty Martini, and Gimlet. Meanwhile, its extensive beer and cider menu includes Gueuze, Nath, and Mambouche.
Elsewhere, Montrose is a neighbourhood restaurant and wine bar located on Montrose Terrace. Its drink list includes cocktails such as Spritzes and Kumquat Martini, as well as a large range of whiskies and other spirits.
As reported by the Daily Record, Edinburgh also took home the previously announced Most Exciting Food Destination award. Judges praised the city for its “high-quality new openings” and “”great restaurants at every level”.
Meanwhile, taking home the top Restaurant of the Year prize is Osip in Somerset. Judges praised the both the venue’s “showcase of style and confidence” and its “stunning clarity of flavour”.
