Three schoolgirls have been charged after allegedly starting a fire in McDonald’s.

The girls, aged 11, 11 and 12 allegedly started the blaze within the toilets at the restaurant at Reform Street in Dundee at around 9am on Sunday, February, 2.

Police Scotland say the girls will now be reported to the Youth Justice Assessor in due course.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Three girls, aged 11, 11 and 12 have been charged in connection with a wilful fire within the toilets at McDonald’s restaurant, Reform Street, Dundee at around 9am on Sunday, 2 February, 2025.

“They will be reported to the Youth Justice Assessor.

“Police Sergeant Rachel McQueen of the City Centre Policing Team said: “Fires can spread quickly and have serious consequences. They can pose a risk to life and cause extensive damage to property.”
