The daughter of a missing man from Motherwell has shared a desperate plea to the public to help trace her dad who vanished last week.
Stuart Wilson, 48, was last seen leaving his home address in the North Lanarkshire town in the early hours of Saturday, February 1. Police enquiries revealed he may have been sighted in Ayr later that day.
Officers are combing the Lanarkshire and Ayrshire areas, with his family also launching their own search efforts. His daughter Chloe Wilson has shared several posts on social media appealing for the public’s help.
Chloe and the rest of the family are particularly concerned for Stuart’s welfare, as he has reportedly deactivated his social media accounts and switched off his mobile phone since he was last seen.
Chloe wrote on Facebook on Saturday as part of an initial appeal: “His phone is turned off and he’s deactivated all social media. We are all extremely worried and this is very out of character for him.”
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, she said: “Our family can’t thank everyone enough for helping sharing the posts and going out searching out for my dad. I really appreciate the messages I’m receiving but there is just too many of them to go through. But still not much information that gives us any idea where he is unfortunately.
“It’s been such a hard time for our family and if only dad could see how many people care about him. Please keep your eye out for him and sharing his face about. If you have Ring doorbells please check them. If you see him phone [the] police with case number or get in touch with me or anyone tagged.”
Stuart is described as white, Scottish, about 5’8″ of a slim build, with brown eyes and greying black hair. He was last seen wearing a black thigh-length jacket, black jeans or trousers, black “Skechers” style trainers and a grey chunky scarf. He may also be carrying a black rucksack.
The last confirmed sighting of him was when he left his home address on Hillhead Avenue, in the Jerviston area of Motherwell, at around 3am on Saturday after he was spotted on a doorbell camera.
Extensive police enquiries later revealed he may have travelled to Ayr, after a possible sighting at a petrol station on Hillfoot Road, on the outskirts of the town, at around 4pm.

The family planned to go around their local area on Sunday with flyers showing Stuart’s picture and description to help them and the police search for him.
The flyers also read: “Several things have his family extremely concerned for his welfare, all of which are out of character for him”.
