Detectives on Tuesday arrested a man they said is accused of repeatedly raping a 5-year-old girl in Staten Island, police said.
Working off tips, cops tracked Dominique Giles, 30, to W. 124th St. near Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd. in Harlem early Tuesday and took him into custody without incident.
He had been sought for the horrifying Jan. 22 assault that took place in a home near the corner of Richmond Terrace and Sharpe Ave. in Port Richmond around 5:40 a.m., cops said.
The victim and Giles knew each other.
After Giles assaulted the girl, he took off on foot, police said. Medics took the girl to Richmond University Medical Center, where she was treated and released.
Police released images of Giles on Wednesday, asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward.
Cops charged Giles with multiple counts of rape, as well as sexual abuse, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child. His arraignment in Staten Island Criminal Court was pending Tuesday.
He has just one prior arrest in the city, for criminal mischief in April 2024, police said.
