AUSTIN, Texas — Austin police are searching for more survivors of child sexual assault following the arrest of a 20-year-old man who they say messaged young children via social media.
Kewshawn French-Burton was arrested after several incidents with at least three underage victims. Specifically, he has been arrested on three counts of Sexual Assault of a Child and one count of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child. He was also charged with one count of Sexual Assault of a Child.
Currently, police said the victims that have been identified were all young girls between victims 12 and 17 years old.
Austin police said French-Burton reportedly pretended to be younger while contacting victims through social media to engage in sexual activity. Investigators said he used both Instagram and Snapchat to contact victims.
Now, police want to offer ways for other possible victims of French-Burton to report any other assaults. You can contact the police department’s Child Abuse Unit at 512-974-6880 or the Capital Area Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS.
Additional resources include the Center for Child Protection, Girls Empowerment Network and the SAFE Alliance. Appointments are also available through the Austin Health Department by calling 512-972-5430.
Police are also working alongside Austin Public Health (APH) to identify anyone who contracted sexually transmitted infections in relation to the abuse.
